Snake River should romp to victory
KARACHI, Dec 9: Snake River, a bay colt owned by Yaqoob Butt, should romp to victory on Wednesday afternoon, when the Ninth Day of the Winter Gymkhana Race Meeting gets under way at the Karachi Racecourse.
Particapting in the fifth event with 10 other runners vying for the spoils going over five furlongs, Snake River after his splendid run behind Nawab only three days ago, should pass the winning post ahead of Gold Tip and top weight Fantastic Fighter with Mahsagar completing the frame.
All in all, six events have been drawn up on the racing card, all going over the sprinting distance of five furlongs.
The first race begins at 1.00 p.m.
In the opener, the bay seven-year-old horse Winning Streak looks a good thing to pick up the honours followed home by Rolling Thunder, Jango and Noble Prince.
Yaqoob Butt has another winner in Black Magic in the following event. The dark bay filly trained by Moheyuddin if called upon, could easily pick up the top honours from Last Love and Dauntless with Bang Man, on course for a hat trick of wins and Baby Tabassum joining the fray.
The third event on the afternoon’s programme seems reserved for Humayun Mirza’s dark bay gelding Sajan Black, beating Prosmatic, going all out to repeat his Sunday’s victory 10 days ago with Law Of Nature finishing third.
Smokey Prince had a well deserved victory on that same day beating Fizza by seven lengths going over the same distance. If all goes well, Smokey Prince should edge out front runner Lovely Concept, with Sonia and Mera Jugnoo battling it out for the third berth.
In the concluding event Star Of The Day had the rider Naseem Ahmed heavily penalised last time out for not allowing the bay colt to run on merit, after finishing among the also ran.
However, after receiving a severe warning from the Administration, Star Of The Day, although penalised to carry 9-4 on his back should get the better of speedy Neelam Taab to enable owner M. Yaqoob Butt to finish the afternoon’s programme is a state of glory with a fine hat trick against his name.
