LAHORE, Dec 13: All four top seeded players entered the semifinals of the sixth Haleeb All-Pakistan junior ranking tennis tournament boys Under-18 singles at Punjab Coaching Centre, Friday.
Except fourth seed Tanvir Ashiq, no other qualifiers faced any difficulties in the quarterfinals.
Tanvir faced a tough challenge from fifth seed Suleman Bashir in both the sets before winning 7-5, 6-4.
Top seed Shahzad Khan crushed Khurram Nazir 6-1, 6-0.
In boys Under-14 singles also, all four top ranking players entered the semifinals.
In a keenly contested match, second seed Khurram Nazir recovered to beat the eighth seed Tanvir Munir 3-6, 7-5, 6-2.
Sixth seed Ibrahim Omer won the boys Under-12 singles’ final, causing an upset beating fourth seed Waqas Malik 6-0, 6-1.
Second seed Zehra Omer will play top seed Nida Rahim in girls Under-18 finals after winning the prefinals against Saba Aziz 6- 2, 6-3. Nida had already qualified for the final.
In girls Under-14 sections, Saba, however marched into the final where she will play Zehra Ali. Saba beat Zainab Kalim 6-0, 6-0 while Zehra outplayed Asra Amin 6-1, 6-1.
