KYC upset KESC thanks to Faheem


KARACHI, Nov 23: Karachi Youth Club (KYC) produced the major surprise when they upset title favorites Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) 51-49 in a thrilling encounter of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak basketball tournament at Arambagh Court Friday night.

Faheem Ahmed played pivotal role in KYC exciting win by mustering as many as 26 points. Rizwan contributed 10 points with two three pointers.

KESC were enjoying 34-31 lead at breather but KYC turned the tables due to Faheem’s brilliant performance. Score was tied 36-36 and 41-41 late in the second half but KYC players kept their nerves at pressure time to emerge winner.

Earlier in the first match, Bounce Club defeated Lecol School 62-40 after enjoying 39-21 advantage.

Muhammad Saqib and Meraj Ahmed led the scoring by collecting 14 and 12 points. Scores: KYC bt KESC 52-4. KYC 52 (Faheem Ahmed 26, Rizwan 10, Irfan Ghani 8, M.Rafiq 4, Ali Abbas 4) KESC (Wasim-ur-Rehman 18, Arif Khan 12, M.Azeem 10, Khurram Sarwar 5, Talha Amjad 4) Bounce Club bt Lecol School 62-40.
