KARACHI, April 17: A man said to be an activist of a political party was shot dead in Orangi Town on Wednesday, the police said.

They added that unidentified men barged in the house of 30-year-old Kaleem aka Commando in Sector 8/B of Data Nagar in Orangi Town, opened fire on him and fled.

The victim was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in a critical condition where he died during treatment.

DSP Zahid Hussain said Kaleem was having a meal in his house when gunmen barged into the house and killed him. The victim was an employee of the water board and was father of two, he added.

“The victim had a criminal background and was wanted in 19 criminal cases and released from jail on parole,” DSP Zahid Hussain said.

Man killed in Manghopir A young man was shot dead in a Manghopir locality on Wednesday, the police said.

They added Abdul Qadeem Khan, 32, was standing near a private school in Sultanabad Sector 3, where unidentified men targeted him and fled.

Manghopir SHO Aslam Joya said the victim belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The victim did not have affiliation with any political or religious party, he added.

Policeman wounded A policeman was shot at in F.B. Area, officials said.

They added that the incident took place in Incholi, where men riding a motorcycle opened fire on Police Constable Nasir Hussain, who was sitting at a grocery store, and fled. The victim was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
