KARACHI, Jan 6: Siraj Talpur and three other suspects in the Shahzeb murder case, arrested during raids in different towns in Sindh, would be produced in a court on Monday and police are likely to seek their remand.

Talking to Dawn on Sunday night, DIG Shahid Hayat said: “Sikandar Jatoi, father of Shahrukh Jatoi, the main accused in the case, is also among suspects and police are looking for him and carrying out raids for his arrest.”

Shahrukh is said to have fled Dubai within hours of the incident.

The suspects are likely to be produced in an anti-terrorism court because a section of the Anti-Terrorism Act has been added to the FIR by police.

According to police, Siraj Talpur was taken into custody in a raid conducted by a police team in the Naushahro Feroze district. Police had also carried out raids in Hyderabad, Dadu and Moro districts.

A protest rally was held at the Sea View here on Sunday, calling for immediate arrest of all suspects and their speedy trial. A large number of people attended the rally.

Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan directed the Inspector General of Police, Fayyaz Laghari, to make sure that justice was done in the case.

According to a statement, he told the authorities concerned that their actions should reflect that they were fulfilling the requirements of justice without succumbing to any influence.

The governor stressed the need for implementing the Supreme Court’s order in letter and spirit to bring the culprits to justice.
