ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday approved extension of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act 2012 to the Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (PATA) under Article 247(3) of the Constitution, enabling the establishment of local government institutions in PATA.

Spokesperson to the president Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the summary initiated by the ministry of states and frontier regions, with the approval of the KP governor, had forwarded the proposal for the extension.

The ministry of SAFRON had requested the prime minister to advise the president for according his approval for the said act.
