KARACHI, Nov 17: A watchman was shot dead in Saddar on Saturday, police said.
They said the victim, Mir Gul, 30, was attacked near a road off Zaib-un-Nisa Street, where he was on his regular duty. The police said the way the murder was executed suggested personal enmity as the motive for it.
“A motorcyclist pulled up near Mir Gul, who was sitting along shops near Zaib-un-Nisa Street,” said Malik Ahsan, the area’s deputy superintendent of police. “Since it was early in the morning, there were few witnesses to the crime. A couple of accounts, however, suggest that the two men exchanged hot words before the rider pulled out a pistol and fired multiple shots at the victim, killing him on the spot and riding away.”
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors found seven bullet wounds on the body. The victim originally hailed from Kurram Agency.
“An FIR (625/2012) has been registered at the Preedy police station under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code against unidentified suspect,” he added.
Killed by ‘stray’ bullet
In Mubina Town, a teenage boy suffered a fatal bullet wound in the early hours of the day.
Area police said 17-year-old Wasim Nawaz was standing outside his home in Rajput Colony during a power breakdown when he was hit by a bullet in the head.
“No one heard the gunshot, neither was anyone seen around,” said an official at the Mubina Town police station. “People in the street and family of the victim only came to know about the incident when Wasim fell to the ground. It seems he was hit by a stray bullet.”
