ISLAMABAD, Oct 14: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday directed Islamabad administration and police to enhance security of Red Zone and continue red alert.

For the information of the reader it is pertinent to mention that according to the official Blue Book, issued by the government there are four levels of security: general hold up, high alert, red alert and red circle security.

In red alert security areas, residents cannot enter without identifying themselves.

The directives were issued in a meeting held to review law and order and security situation in Islamabad.

The minister directed the inspector general (IG) Islamabad police Bani Amin Khan to make fool-proof security arrangements for important government buildings located in Red Zone.

He said that entry to Red Zone would be allowed only to authorised persons having valid national identity cards (CNICs) which would be verified by Nadra on the spot.

Entry points of Islamabad must remain covered properly as per the given security procedures.

The minister announced Sitara-e-Shujaat for ASI Sher Muhammad Lilla and Pakistan Police Medal for ASP Rana Tahir Hussain in recognition of their services and bravery in protecting Police Station Tarnol.
