KARACHI: India's Suresh Raina has found himself in the midst of an embarrassing situation after a tweet demeaning the Pakistan cricket team appeared on his Twitter account.
"Ek do din late gaye ghar !!!! Woh bhi besharam ki tarah Gaye... Bye bye Pakistan!!!!" was tweeted by Raina's official Twitter account @ImRaina regarding Pakistan's World Twenty20 exit after losing to Sri Lanka in the semi-final.
The tweet was deleted after receiving a negative response from his followers and Raina posted an explanation the next day saying that it had been tweeted by his nephew.
"Smart phones r dangerous. Discovered it last night after my nephew posted random tweets. I'm a sportsman and would never disrespect."
"Though I already deleted it, I felt its better to clarify. To all those who r upset, I'm sorry. I'm not one to show disrespect," Raina tweeted.
However, his excuse has not been accepted widely and a parody account @raina_nephew has also been made.
India were knocked out of the World Twenty20 after the Super Eights stage as Pakistan and Australia progressed to the semi-finals.

Instead of making lame excuses he should put a formal apology to the Pakistani team. Hoping that BCCI will take some action against such un-sportsmanship like behaviour.

What about the young Pakis wearing T-shirt with "Kohli ke baap" written on the back of it. I saw it on TV during the match. What mentality that shows about young Pakis. Raina is first an Indian then a cricket player and he has every right to write on his twitter...if you don't like it just ignore.

It would be good if you restrict your ire to Raina... he doesn't represent Indians for God's sake. When Mohammad Aamer got Sachin out and shouted at Sachin like anything, we didn't say that entire Pakistan is rude and shameless.When Saeed Ajmal made fun of Sachin Tendulkar in Indian press media, we didn't say entire Pakistan hates Indians n Sachin.
All I am trying to say is people like Raina, Ajmal don't represent the general perception of people on both sides of countries.
Indians r least concerned abt Pakistanis excpet abt thr cricket encounters with India. You can consider it like we just don't have time to hate Pakistan.

Exactly what was demeaning about that tweet? He only echoed the sentiments of millions of broken hearted Pakistanis. Double standards here i think. Shoaib Akhtar & Shahid Afridi can make disparaging remarks about Sachin Tendulkar & not solicit a response.If you can`t take your own medicine then don`t administer it!

Dear Ruthless,
Lets not get into mentality of either of our countries. Its a long discussion. Since it has appeared on Raina's blog and since we Indians love him as a real top class batsman, as a fellow Indian i apologise but there is far too much bad blood between our nations and who is more to be blamed, well i will only say look at history. What is important is that now its upto us younger people to end hatred. Episodes like these dont help but then look at your pakistani average people.Dont they resort to far worse display of insecurities when it comes to Indians?
As far as cricket goes, we were better then you when the rivalry started and then in the 90's during the Akram /Waqar days we were not a patch. But now lets face honesty that we are far superior as a team by a distance.
