LAHORE, Sept 24: The Lahore High Court issued on Monday notices to the Election Commission and PML-N MNA Syed Muhammad Salman Mohsin Gilani on a petition seeking disqualification of the MNA for possessing a fake degree of graduation.

Mian Naseem Mahmood Hotiana, a defeated candidate of the PPP from NA-165, Pakpattan, filed the petition stating the respondent MNA had contested the general election of 2008 from the same constituency on a fake degree.

He said an inquiry conducted by the Higher Education Commission had also proved his (Mohsin) degree a fake one.

The petitioner said a case had also been registered against the MNA on the direction of the Election Commission.

He prayed to the court to invoke provisions of articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution and direct the EC to immediately de-notify the respondent.

Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh issued notices to the EC and the MNA for the second week of October.
