Joint appeal for peace

Published September 21, 2012

CAIRO: Through its foreign policy chief, the European Union has issued a joint appeal with the Arab League, African Union and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for “peace and tolerance” in the world.

“We condemn any advocacy of religious hatred that constitutes incitement to hostility and violence,” the statement said.

“While fully recognising freedom of expression, we believe in the importance of respecting all Prophets, regardless of which religion they belong to,” said the joint appeal.—Reuters
