LAHORE, Sept 14: The Punjab Assembly on Friday adopted two resolutions.

PML-Q parliamentary leader Chaudhry Zaheeruddin presented a resolution condemning the blasphemous film pictured in the US. The resolution said the film had hurt the sentiments of the Muslims all over the world and interfaith harmony initiatives.

It demanded that the government register a strong protest with the US and also raise the issue in the UNO. Law Minister Rana Sanaullah tabled another resolution expressing grief over the loss of more than 300 people in fire tragedies in Karachi and Lahore. The resolution declared the incidents a ‘national tragedy’.

PML-N’s Asghar Munda then pointed out a lack of quorum and Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhud, who was in the chair, prorogued the session for an indefinite period.

Earlier, journalists boycotted the proceedings to register their protest with the Punjab government for not completing the development work in the Journalists Housing Colony and creating F Block for accommodating another 250 journalists.

They said they would continue their protest till a meeting with Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Rana Sanaullah told them that the chief minister was not well and he would arrange their meeting in a few days.

Chaudhry Zaheeruddin and other opposition members expressed solidarity with the journalists by taking part in the demonstration outside the assembly building.
