LAHORE, July 18: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday summoned the director of the Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (Tepa) and others on a writ petition challenging removal of U-turn on Ferozepur Road in front of the General Hospital to facilitate the Bus Rapid Transit System.

A resident of the area filed the petition and submitted through his counsel that the Punjab government had launched the BRTS project and removed the U-turn in front of the hospital. He said the U-turn had been repositioned at a distance of four kilometers from the main entrance to the health facility.

He pleaded that the shifting of the U-turn would cause problems to visitors/patients especially ambulances which would have to take a long drive to reach the hospital. He said the respondent should be told to shift the U-turn to previous position. Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh directed the respondents to appear in court on July 24. — Staff Reporter
