Majlis-e-Mulligatawny

Published July 11, 2012

The Peoples Party have elected a person whose back is bent under the burden of incompetence, and unqualified talent; and is holding a foul smelling basket of corruption charges on his head. His election is a tight slap on the face of a nation that is burning like a piece of wood in the hell of load shedding.

Coalition partners also added force to this slap by placing the crown of the PM on a simpleton and, yet again incompetent leader drenched in corruption charges, to protect their vested interest. The election of Raja Pervez Ashraf didn’t kick the fountains of revolutions in our hearts, but at least the people should not have felt that revenge was taken on them.

Only one man is running this government and he elected Raja Pervez to be a sacrificial lamb to protect himself from the cases born out of the womb of NRO.  Only 211 votes are ruling this country under the name of democracy. What is the difference between the dictatorship of Pervez Musharraf and Pervez Ashraf?

One man is deciding the fate of the Pakistani nation who had dreams in their eyes for 65 years to lead the ummah to the scientific and futuristic age of time travel back to the 6th century.  The sole Muslim nuclear power is being led by leader who is not even an Atchisonian! How can a man of his caliber from Gujjar Khan sit on the chair that was once occupied by great leaders and statesman like Bhutto, Benazir and Mian Nawaz Sharif.

What kind of democracy is this where donkeys and horses being treated equally? Democracy is the counting of heads, not what is in them.

How can a madrassah-going pious, learned person be equal to a western-educated ignorant person? Can a lawyer be considered equal to a journalist, SHO, magistrate or motorway warden?

The great philosopher Socrates criticised the democracy of Athens that led to their defeat by Spartans in the Peloponnesian War. After defeating the USSR, we are now on the verge of defeating United State and the Ghazwa-e-Hind is about to start from Grassland Tracks. Do we need the bickering of politicians in parliament or a leadership that can take us to the lost glory of the 11th century of Mehmud Ghaznavi. According to our national poet,

Throw them out in the alley The new civilizations eggs are rotten Election, membership, council, presidency The nooses of independence are very strange

As Mard-e-momin, Mard-e-Haq, Zia-ulHaq had said that Democracy is a western conspiracy that does not suit the hot climate, specially the dessert of Nejd. That is why he formed Majlis-e-Mulligatawny soup instead of a parliament. A conspiracy is being hatched to infiltrate this majlis with immoral, white chicken (imported) under the fancy name of dual nationality. The identity of hunter beef is being replaced with begger’s beef.

The only working democratic institution of government servants is being paralysed in the name of the supremacy of parliament. Again according to our national poet,

Both Mahmud and Ayaz  in the same row stood, None as the slave and none as the master stood

Now, the time is ripe that Mehmud and Ayaz can stand together in battle formations and storm the temple of Democracy to break the idols of Taghut.

The author left architecture for painting but ended up as a cartoonist and now writes Hijjo. He is the jack of all trades.
