KARACHI, July 25: The Sindh government has announced transfer and posting of police officials of grade-18 and above in line with the Police Act, 1861, which stands revived after the governor’s assent to the bill repealing the Police Order, 2002 and reviving the Police Act, 1861.

Under the revived law, the inspector-general of police is empowered to effect transfer and posting of police officers up to the rank of inspectors.

In the case of a DSP-level officer, such power lies with the home secretary.

Transfer and posting of an officer above the rank of DSP is done by the Services & General Administration department with the approval of the home minister under the law.
