HYDERABAD, Feb 11: A pall of gloom hung over Sindh University campus in Jamshoro on Friday following death of a student on Thursday in an armed clash between the student wings of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz and Pakistan People's Party-SB. The campus wore a deserted look as very few students turned up to attend classes. Girl students kept away from the classes and many university point buses from different areas of Hyderabad returned empty.

The university administration had made strict security arrangements and set-up check-posts at many places where the vehicles entering into the university were thoroughly searched.

Jamshoro police is reported to have taken a five-day remand of Agha Abbas Pathan, who was allegedly involved in the murder of Babar Ali Sandhilo, student of second year, BCS, at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science.

Reports said that a meeting of the student wing of the JSMM was held under the chairmanship of Hafeez Pirzado in Pir Jo Goth, Khairpur district. The meeting decided not to boycott classes in the educational institutions but announced three days of mourning for the deceased.

Our Khairpur correspondent adds: Funeral prayer of Babar Sandhilo was held in his ancestral village Jan Mohammad Sandhilo, taluka Kingri, on Friday.

A large number of students, relatives and residents of surrounding areas attended his funeral. Sandhilo was later laid to rest in a mournful atmosphere in Shaikh Tayyab graveyard.
