KARACHI: A 62-year-old man was shot dead by suspected robbers over putting up resistance in the Gulberg area on Sunday, said police.

They added that Shariq Jawaid was driving a car when armed motorcyclists intercepted him at Landi Kotil near Tahir Villa Chowrangi.

When he put up resistance, the suspects opened fire at him and fled. He suffered critical wounds and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Investigators collected one spent bullet casing from the crime scene fired from the 30-bore pistol.

The police said apparently the man was killed by robbers over resistance but they were also probing other possible motives for the murder.
