PESHAWAR: Death toll from Covid-19 reached 1,063 as nine more passed away due to the infection in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

The province also recorded 354 new confirmed cases, taking the total to 29,406.

Of the dead, three belonged to Kohat, two Peshawar, and one each Malakand, Abbottabad, Mansehra and Haripur, according to a report released by the health department.

It said that 712 patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of recovered patients to 19,503.

The number of people dying of Covid-19 reached 503 in Peshawar, which also recorded 133 new patients, taking its overall count of infected people to 10,436.

In Kohat, so far 636 people have contracted the infection with 33 fresh cases and death toll standing at 32. In Lower Dir, the patients’ count reached 1,414 with 32 new ones.

The district has seen 34 people dying of the infection, said the report.

Cases in Nowshera, which has seen death of 45 people, reached 838 with 24 more patients. Khyber reported 13, Charsadda 12, Chitral Lower 11 and Swat 10, taking the overall total in these districts to 718, 780, 178 and 2,649, respectively.
