Another polio case detected in Balochistan

QUETTA: A new polio case has been confirmed in Balochistan, taking the total number of such cases reported in the province in the year 2019 to 12.

According to the provincial health department, the case has been reported from Habib Zai union council in Qila Abdullah district.

Authorities said an 18-month-old girl was diagnosed with the crippling disease. Her name could not be confirmed.

Health officials said the parents did not allow vaccinators to administer anti-polio drops to their child during several campaigns. Samples were taken on Dec 31, 2019, by workers of the health department.

Officials claimed that 80 per cent of parents in Habib Zai UC denied administering anti-polio drops to their children.
