LAHORE: Dozens of visually impaired people held a demonstration and sit-in at the Charing Cross in front of the Punjab Assembly on Monday for regularisation of their service. The protest caused traffic jam on The Mall and adjacent roads.

The protesters, most of them were daily-wage employees in various government departments, complained that the government was ignoring their demand of regularisation of their service.

“The PML-N government during its tenure always gave us lollipop by engaging us in meetings and assuring us to resolve our issues and the PTI government is also doing same,” said a protester.

Deputy Commissioner Asghar Joiya reached the spot and tried to convince the protesters to end the demonstration but the protest was still going on when this report was filed.
