TAXILA: Public Accounts Committee Punjab Chairman Yawar Abbas Bokhari has said that he would take up the problems and injustices done to the monitoring and evaluation assistants (MEAs) working in the Chief Minister’s Monitoring Force in Punjab Assembly.

Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday after a meeting with the director monitoring, Mr Bokhari pledged that he would also discuss the issue with Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar during the next provincial assembly session.

The PAC chairman said that over 1,000 MEAs had been working across Punjab since 2004 on contract basis.

“Neither their services could be regularised, nor could they be entitled to any other monetary benefits, which is a great injustice,” he regretted.

Mr Bokhari said that because of the sincere efforts and professionalism of MEAs, there had been a marked improvement in the education sector.

He said that on the one hand, the services of MEAs were being appreciated at the higher level, on the other no facilities were given to them.

The PAC chairman said that he had asked the director monitoring to prepare a summary in this regard which he would present to the chief minister besides taking it up on the floor of Punjab Assembly.

Earlier, he held a meeting with the director monitoring and discussed with him the problems being faced by MEAs.
