LAHORE: Hosts Amir Cables beat Hajveri Sports by three wickets in the opening match of the ninth Amir Cables Veterans Cricket Tournament at the Model Town Ground here on Sunday.

Batting first, Hajveri Sports posted a healthy 217-2 in the stipulated 20 overs with Ahmed Yar (66) and Mian Fazal Quddus (57) their chief run-getters.

Amir Cables, in reply, reached the target on the last ball of the match with Waqas Ahmed (530 and Shahid Mansoor (43 not out) leading the chase. Faheem Butt grabbed four wickets for 32 runs, while Afzal Bashir took 3-22.
