SUKKUR: Five people were killed and six others injured in a shootout over a land dispute between the sons of two brothers belonging to the Sabzoi community in a village near Kandhkot.

According to reports, armed persons belonging to one group attacked their opponents and opened indiscriminate fire, killing five people and injuring six others in Arsala village late on Saturday night.

The dead included two sons each of the two brothers — Sain Bux and Wahab and Abdullah and Nooruddin — and their cousin Najamuddin. Four of the injured were identified as Rahib, Wahid, Gul Hassan and Mohammad Bux. The injured were taken to a hospital in Larkana.

Kandhkot SSP Dr Samiullah Soomro told journalists that the dispute over land was the reason behind the armed clash between the cousins.

Police reached the area after the incident and conducted raids on the houses of the attackers who had fled after empting their houses.

The SSP said a police team led by a DSP and A-Section police station SHO had been constituted for the arrest of the people involved in the attack.
