RAWALPINDI: People queued outside the Sadiqabad police station, among them both young and elderly individuals, waiting to register their tenants with the police to avoid legal action against them.

Those who have to register their tenants have had to visit the police several times – first, for information on how to provide the particulars regarding their tenants, and then to collect CNICs and photographs of the homeowners and tenants as well as the tenancy agreement.

After getting together everything required by the police, they have to visit the police station to submit their documents, and many people were seen waiting their turn to submit the documents to people posted to the police stations’ front desks.

However, the working hours of the individuals who operate the front desks have also inconvenienced people who have to register their tenants. In addition, although a sign above the entrance gate said one must prove their identity before entering, no police official was deployed to allow people to enter, many of whom had been waiting for a long time.

People begun visiting police stations to register tenants after the police cracked down on individuals who had not provided information on the whereabouts of their tenants.
