Norwegian Ambassador Tore Nedrebo was in a good mood as he welcomed guests at a reception at his embassy’s new offices, or chancery as it is called in diplomatic language, at the Serena Business Complex, Islamabad.

He thanked the hotel chain’s CEO for South and East Asia, Aziz Boolani, for being helpful in refurbishing the spacious offices on the seventh floor, with beautiful views for those who have windows in the right direction.

The centre of the office space has been furnished with open landscape cubicles, which the ambassador said will facilitate better teamwork.

The Norwegian ambassador and Serena CEO Aziz Boolani cut a cake with the flags of both countries, which is made for special occasions. The Norwegians had also sent for kransekake, which is almond cake usually served at weddings.

Ambassador Nedrebo said the embassy will be housed in these offices for three or four years till the building for housing the embassies of Denmark, Norway and Sweden in the Diplomatic Enclave is completed.

He said it was time for the Norwegian embassy to move after having been housed in the F-6 residential sector for long.

He said he liked the official feeling in the Serena complex, which also has common services and facilities including a cafeteria and fitness centre.

Guests were served canapés from the Serena kitchens and Norwegian salmon among other things.
