LAHORE: Three-day Mystic Music Sufi Festival by Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop will start on Feb 10 at the Alhamra Cultural Complex, Qadhafi Stadium, the creative director of the festival, Saadan Pirzada, told Dawn on Sunday.

He said the cultural festival would feature an incredible line-up of devotional musicians and dancers from across Pakistan.

This year, it would bring together a diverse group of Sufi singers to showcase the music that had been passed down through the generations for more than a thousand years, he added.

The festival is the regular feature of city’s cultural scene for over a decade .Some major singers who would perform during the festival are Abida Parveen, Saeen Zahoor, Akhtar Chanal Zehri, Krishan Lal Bheel and vocalists from Gilgit.

Krishan Lal Bheel is also a prominent artiste from Cholistan and he is fluent in many languages, including Hindi, Sindhi, Seraiki, Cholistani, Rajasthani and Urdu.

He can sing in all these languages but when he sings in Marvai it brings out the true ethos of the land.

The music event would grab the attention of the people for various forms of Sufi singing and devotional expressions.

Sufi music, tasteful illuminations, a nicely decorated complex and turnout of audience would build the momentum of festival.

The festival would also have stalls offering different items such as embroidered dresses and bags and jewellery besides a food court. It will be a ticketed event.
