OKARA: The clerical revenue staff has protested against an Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) team’s raid and subsequent registration of a case against 18 clerks.

The case had been registered on the order of the special judicial magistrate against 18 APCA members including district president Gohar Zaidi, tehsil court reader Jahangir and Ghulam Rasool, a staff of tehsildar office.

ACE Assistant Director Asif Noor, along with magistrate Tariq Mahmood, conducted a raid to ascertain the allegation that Jahangir had pocketed Rs5,000 bribe.

The officials allegedly humiliated Jahangir by undressing him but could not recover money.

This led to a protest by the revenue staff which submitted an application to District Coordination Officer Socrat Aman Rana complaining about the attitude of the ACE team.

On the order of the magistrate, the Saddar police registered a case under sections 506, 186 and 225 PPC against 18 APCA members.
