ISLAMABAD: Presi-dent Mamnoon Hussain has emphasised the need for projecting Pakistan as a moderate, peace-loving and progressive Muslim country, and removing misperceptions about it.

Talking to a delegation of press officers posted at various missions abroad on Wednesday, he said the role of press officers was important in highlighting the country’s achievements in economic and social spheres.

Mr Hussain noted that media had a central role in diplomacy but with the current advancement in information and communication technology its significance had further increased. He said that with the world becoming a global village, social media had turned the common man into a journalist. “Your top priority should be to project Pakistan as a democratic, moderate and peaceful state which desires friendly relations with all its neighbours.”
