KARACHI: A bakery owner was shot dead in Sharifabad early Tuesday morning, police said.

They added that Aleemuddin, 60, was gunned down shortly after he had opened the bakery. He was hit by bullets each in the head and the chest and died on the spot.

“The bakery also had a private security guard but he was not present at the time of the attack. It was not a mugging or robbery attempt as the pillion-rider attackers sped away after the firing,” an official said.

He added that the body was handed over to the family after medico-legal formalities at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
