ISLAMABAD: A local court on Monday issued arrest warrants for the PML-N MNA Sheikh Rohail Asghar in a hit-and-run case registered against him with the Kohsar police.

Civil Judge cum Judicial Magistrate Hamayun Dilawar while issuing the warrants, ordered the police to produce the MNA on next date of hearing.

The directions came in response to an application filed by the victim’s wife in which she told the court that despite a court order the police had not registered an FIR against the MNA.

The Additional District & Session Judge-west, Muhammad Atta Rabbani, had ordered registration of FIR on an application of the woman, Shaheen Bibi, who accused the lawmaker of killing her husband, Raz Muhammad, a private security guard.

In an application filed under Section 22-A of the Criminal Procedure Code, Bibi through her counsel had said that her husband was on his way home when a car bearing official number plate hit her husband near Blue Area on August 10, 2014.

The counsel had maintained that the hit-and-run victim was rushed to the hospital but he could not survive. Later on, she said, it emerged that the vehicle belonged to PML-N MNA Rohail Asghar.

Police, however, informed the court that Asghar was not even in the car and it was being driven by his driver, Zulfiqar.
