England's pacer Reece Topley is likely to miss out the One-Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan in August due to his back injury that will keep him out of cricket for three months.

The 22-year-old has been ruled out for three months with a partial stress fracture of the lumbar spine and will miss out the limited-overs leg of the ongoing Sri Lanka's tour of England in June and July, The Guardian reported on Tuesday.

On the placid UAE surface's the left-arm-medium-fast proved to be detrimental for Pakistan's hopes of success in the ODI and T20 International (T20I) series wins in November last year.

Topely bagged six wickets at the strike-rate of 35.8 in four-ODI series.

He played only the first match of the three-T20I series and took 3/24 as he shared the new ball with Chris Jordan. Pakistan in the chase of 161 were wrapped up for 146 in 20 overs.

England won the ODI series 1-3 and whitewashed the hosts in the shorter-format.

Topley's injury will keep him out till August end, however, the ODI series between England and Pakistan will stretch from August 24 till September 4.
