KARACHI: A coach of Green Line Express train derailed while moving to Karachi Cantonment Station from the washing yard on Monday which took more than two hours to put it back on track, said an official.

“After washing service at the yard, the train was returning to Cantt Station,” he said. “There are multiple tracks which lead to different platforms of two railway stations [City and Cantt]. From washing yard to its destined platforms, several trains move in reverse direction. The same was case with Green Line service but due to some misunderstanding between the driver and lineman, one of the wagons derailed.”

He said after more than two hours the coach was put back on track through machinery and cranes. Since the track was not part of the main lines used for railway traffic movement, train service was not stopped or suspended during those hours, he added.
