QUETTA: Five security personnel, including an officer, were injured when a military helicopter met an accident soon after taking off from the helipad in Awaran area of Balochistan on Sunday.

Official sources said the helicopter took off from Awaran and fell down on the helipad soon after. “Five security personnel who were on board received injuries, including the pilot and co-pilot,” said a senior security official talking to Dawn.

He said that due to a technical fault which developed during takeoff, the helicopter fell. The helicopter was on its way to Khuzdar.

Soon after the incident, security personnel rushed to the site and took the injured men to a hospital. A fire that had broken out due to the accident was brought under control. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
