LAHORE: The teams of the Punjab Revenue Authority on Friday sealed six marriage halls and caterers for functioning without sales tax registration and posted officials at five restaurants in Gulberg for monitoring bill invoices.

Additional Commissioner Enforcement Shahzad Mehmood Gondal told Dawn the first team sealed Defence Marquee and Wedding Lawn on the Airport Road, Grace Marriage Hall, Johar Town, Canal Orchid Abid Event Complex Johar Town, Mughal Palace, Daroghawala, Bilal Marriage Garden and Taj Mahal Shadi Hall, Jaranwala Road, for showing reluctance to get registered under Sales Tax On Services Act 2012. He said the estimated tax recovery of sales tax recovery from the sealed marriage halls and caterers was Rs1.5 million.

Mr Gondal further said the authority had started sales monitoring of five restaurants in Gulberg which were resisting electronic monitoring of sales. They are Café Upstairs Jail Road, Cosa Nostra near College of Home Economics Gulberg, Yoglicious Café, SI Bon, Café Jazz and Grill MM Alam Road.
