RAWALPINDI: A private security guard deployed at Allied Bank branch near Hati Chowk was gunned down by robbers when he tried to stop them from entering the bank on Friday. However, the robbers escaped from the scene empty handed.

Hammad Arshad, branch manager, told the police Allah Ditta, in his 50s, was on duty when three robbers tried to force their way into the bank branch at about 12.30pm on Friday. Police quoting the bank manager said the security guard lost his life but he foiled the robbery. Till the filing of this report, the police were unable to track down the robbers.
