ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan contingent on Wednesday reached Los Angles to participate in the Special Olympics World Games to be staged there from July 25 to Aug 2.

A strong Pakistan contingent comprising players and officials left from Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi simultaneously to take part in the biggest ever Special Olympics World Games, said a press release.

The special athletes from Islamabad were led by Arshad Javaid, National Sports Director. The delegation comprised 24 special athletes, coaches and officials.

The delegation from Karachi included 38 special athletes, coaches and officials led by Ronak Lakahni.

Meanwhile, the group from Lahore was led by Anisur Rehman with 15 special athletes.

Pakistan would be taking part in nine disciplines including athletics, swimming, football, basketball, tennis, table tennis, power-lifting and cycling.

Mahfooz Ilahi is the head of the delegation and Asma Hasan is the deputy.

Around 7,000 athletes from 177 countries would take part in the mega event.
