ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday adjourned the proceedings in petitions filed by three co-accused with Gen Pervez Musharraf, challenging their implication in the high treason case.

The special court on November 21, 2014, while deciding the application of former president Gen Musharraf against his ‘solo trial’ in the treason case, ordered the federal government to include former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former minister Zahid Hamid and former chief justice of the Supreme Court Abdul Hameed Dogar as abettors in treason case.

The three-judge special court in December last year stopped the proceedings against Gen Musharraf after the alleged abettors challenged its order in the Islamabad High Court.

On Tuesday, the Islamabad High Court division bench, comprising Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi and Justice Aamir Farooq, resumed hearing of the petitions.

Advocate Faisal Hussain, counsel for Gen Musharraf, informed the Islamabad High Court that senior counsel Barrister Farogh Nasim could not appear because of his mother’s ailment.

The court then asked the counsel for the petitioners as well as the respondent to decide a date for the next hearing with mutual consent.

Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing till last week of September.

The concern is that if the government is thinking of cutting costs through the merger, we might even lose the functionality levels we currently have.
