RAWALPINDI: Two traders, one of them an activist of Shabab-i-Milli Pakistan, were shot dead by their rivals in Sadiqabad on Saturday night.

Police said the motive behind the double murder was a monetary dispute between the two groups.

Mian Khan complained to the police that his nephew Jan Akbar owned a cloth shop at the Transformer Chowk and Naveed Malik was associated with him as a business partner.

On Saturday, Naveed entered into a quarrel with another trader identified as Imran alias Mani over a monetary dispute but the matter was settled by Abdul Rehman Malik. Police said Rehman wanted to make a patch-up between the two people.

Rehman was an activist of Shabab-i-Milli and a member of the local traders’ union.

On Saturday night, Imran alias Mani along with his two accomplices came to the shop of Naveed and asked him about Rehman who had gone to offer Isha prayers.

As Rehman returned, Imran alias Mani, Tariq, Shahid Mehmood along with an unidentified man started quarrelling with him and Naveed.

In the meantime, Imran fired at Naveed and Tariq allegedly shot Rehman, injuring them critically.

The injured were taken to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Rehman’s funeral prayer was offered at a mosque in Sadiqabad and later his body was sent to his native town in Chakwal.

The Sadiqabad police have registered a murder case against the four persons and started a search for their arrest.
