GWADAR: Three labourers repairing a power transmission line were shot dead near the coastal town of Pasni in Gwadar district on Sunday.

According to police, the three were working near the Zero Point between Pasni gird station and Ormara when more than 10 armed men reached there on motorcycles, overpowered security personnel of the Balochistan Constabulary and snatched their official weapons.

The attackers surrounded the labourers and opened fire, killing them on the spot.

“The victims suffered multiple injuries,” police said, adding the culprits escaped after the incident.

The deceased — Mohammad Azhar, Mohammad Zeeshan and Mohammad Ashfaq — belonged to Khanewal area of Punjab.

Police and Frontier Corps personnel took the bodies to the district hospital in Pasni. Later, these were sent to the victims’ native areas.

Security forces launched a search operation in the area after the attack and detained several people for interrogation.
