SUKKUR: Employees of the Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College (GMMMC) in Sukkur on Saturday staged a demonstration in front of the principal’s office.

Leading the protest, Zulfiqar Mahar, Hashim Abro, Mukhtiar, Yar Muhammad Katpar and Shafiqur Rehman Khameesani told reporters that Rs5,000 each was paid to the employees as Eid package/bonus last year, but this time the principal refused while pre-mature increment due since 2007 was not given to clerks.

They said uniforms for winter were not provided to employees and other rights were also being usurped due to which they were compelled to stage the protest against the college administration. The leaders also said the charter of demands already agreed by the college administration was not implemented, though a notification had also been issued in this regard.

They threatened to stage a strong protest if the college administration did not fulfil their genuine demands.
