KARACHI: Seventh NBP summer junior boxing coaching camp commenced here at Ustad Abdullah Boxing Stadium, Maripur on Wednesday.

Fifty-six junior boxers are participating in the 15-day camp where international and national coaches including Murad Bux, Fida Hussain and Rustam Baloch will impart training to the boxers.

Director Sports DMC South Asif Azeem, while inaugurating the camp, said that boxing is an obsession among the youth from District South, especially the Lyari neighbourhood that had produced many international and national boxers in the past.

He welcomed holding of summer camp at the grassroots level for children and hoped that this would help produce future stars. He lauded National Bank of Pakistan for patronising boxing and said other departments and organisations should also come forward for the promotion of sports through their sponsorship and patronage.

Secretary Sindh Boxing Association Asghar Baloch later briefed the audience about the camp. Olympians Malang Baloch, Mohammed Siddique Qambrani, former international boxers Akbar Ali, Nawab Ali, international referee Ghani Durwesh and others attended the function.—APP
