Belarus president due on Tuesday

ISLAMABAD: The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, is arriving here on a two-day visit on May 26 at the invitation of President Mamnoon Hussain. It will be the first ever visit by any Belarusian president to Pakistan.

The Foreign Office spokesman said the aim of the visit is to strengthen ties between the two countries.

A business delegation will precede Mr Lukashenko’s visit for the first Pakistan-Belarus Business and Investment Forum to be held on May 25.

The Belarusian president will attend a banquet to be hosted by President Mamnoon Hussain.

He will have official talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who will also host a lunch in honour of the visiting dignitary. A number of important agreements and memorandum of understanding are expected to be signed during the visit.

Pakistan and Belarus enjoy cordial relations.

Belarus established its Resident Mission in Islamabad in November 2014.
