PEKING: North Viet-Nam on Tuesday protested to the International Commission on Viet-Nam that poisonous chemicals were used during American and South Viet-Namese air attacks on Con Co Island last Sunday. Planes dropped a clear fishy liquid and a black evil-smelling powder which withered trees and burned skin on contact, the protest said. The protest was sent by a senior officer of the North Viet-Nam People’s Army High Command.

[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies from Teheran], Iranian authorities have arrested six Iranian youths on charges of instigating the abortive attempt against the Shah last April 10, it was announced here. The announcement said the six had confessed. Five of them had been students in British universities, including Manchester University. They were further accused of being members of “extremist Communist” organisations and of having planned “subversive” disorders in Iran.

The issue of May 1, 1965 is unavailable. The following is a selection from the April 30 issue.

The announcement said the arrested men admitted they have foreign contacts. It further said they were planning to distribute leaflets inspired by Chinese Communist literature and the “writings of Mao Tse-tung.” The announcement said the six men had persuaded a young recruit, private Reza Chemsabadi to kill the Shah. The recruit had political ideas similar to theirs. Chemsabadi was shot down by Palace guards after firing shots at the Shah in the grounds of the palace on April 10.
