MULTAN: Scores of traders of Baara Market, Khanewal Road, on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against what they called police failure to control the incidents of dacoity and theft in the area.

The protesters led by Anjuman-i-Tajiran city president Arif Fasihullah and chairman of Baara Market traders Haji Babar Khan, blocked the main Khanewal Road for over two hours by burning tyres.

They alleged that five motorcycles were stolen within two days from the market, besides dacoity incidents taking place there.

They said police did not reach the the crime scene despite repeated calls made on emergency numbers provided to them. They urged the regional and city police officers to take notice of “negligence” of their subordinates.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Zaheeruddin Alizai also joined the protesters.
