SAHIWAL: Pakpattan District Bar Association activists protested on Wednesday outside the Farid Nagar police officials for not registering a case against Malikain Hans Station House Officer (SHO) Nousher Kathia.

Lawyers said one of their colleagues, Muhammad Nawaz Joyia, was allegedly manhandled by Mr Kathia in his chamber about a month ago.

The lawyer moved the sessions court and got order that a case be registered against the SHO. The police official challenged the decision with the Lahore High Court (LHC) but the court upheld the verdict. On Tuesday, an LHC double bench also rejected SHO’s appeal against the verdict. On Wednesday, when Mr Joyia approached the police, they refused to entertain the court orders.

Lawyers protested outside the police station and threatened if the case was not registered, they would hold a sit-in and boycott court proceedings for three days.

Bar president Pir Ashraf Qureshi and general secretary Qammar Jalal also joined the protest.

Farid Nagar SHO Rana Tanvir refused to talk to reporters.
