Wassan corruption gaffe draws laughter in Sindh Assembly

KARACHI: In an embarrassing slip of the tongue, Sindh Minister of Jail Manzoor Wassan stated that govt was doing “all the corruption it could” in the province, DawnNews reported.

The minister made the gaffe while addressing the Sindh Assembly on Wednesday, which caused the house to burst in laughter at the statement.

Wassan then corrected himself while Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, amused at the mistake himself, came to the minister’s defence, stating that it was mistake.

The speaker said that Wassan meant the govt was doing all it could “to finish corruption”.

Opposition members jested that the minister actually spoke the truth and that he didn’t make a mistake.

Wassan has been known to make gaffe’s in the past along with making ‘predictions’ over political development in the country, based on dreams that he had the night before.

George W. Bush said the same in front of news cameras at a small (but not well thought out impromptu gathering of Washington press reporters). He obviously had written his own speech, and it wasn't the Gettysburg Address. That is what a degree from Yale will do for you. "Our enemies are clever and so are we. They never stop trying to find ways to harm our country, and neither do we."

Such is the level of ministers in PPP led Sindh government. When the history of Sindh is written, this government will be remembered as the most corrupt, ineffective, and dysfunctional government. It's not Mr.Wassan only, there is a long list of such characters led by the 'youngest' chief minister of Sindh!

Sind poor Sind - it is ruled by perhaps the most corrupt administration in Pakistan. There is no government in Sind - what is consistent is absolutely not bothered regime where the governor and chief minister do not change - they are doing a great job in ensuring status co continues and corruption rules. What a tragedy - die if you are in Karachi or die if you are in Thar - that is your fate o people of Sind.
