KASUR: An elderly woman was allegedly burnt alive on Tuesday when a fire erupted in the room where she was asleep in Gulshan Subhan Colony in the jurisdiction of the Pattoki City police.

The family says a quilt caught fire from a gas heater in the room where Ayesha Bibi, 75, was asleep.

Residents put out the fire and retrieved the body from the room.

FRAUD: A man operating a utility bill collection franchise in Kot Murad Khan fled after collecting bills worth thousands from scores of consumers.

People said they had submitted utility bills for December with the franchise of Muhammad Shafqat.

They received bills with outstanding dues and fine in January. When the people rushed to the shop, it was locked. The utility company authorities told the complainants they had defaulted on December payments.
