KARACHI: Officials of the Pakistan Customs arrested a man at Karachi airport on Friday and seized 500 grams of heroin from him.

A Customs statement said that Syed Makhdoom Hussain was arrested in the international departure lounge of the airport before he could board a Colombo-bound SriLankan Airlines’ flight.

It said that the examination of the suspect’s passport showed that he was a frequent traveller to Sri Lanka, but he gave no valid reason for so many journeys. Later, his luggage was thoroughly searched that led to the recovery of heroin concealed in his suitcase.

A case under the Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997 was registered against him.
