LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) dismissed on Thursday a petition by PML-N MNA Malik Riaz seeking an order for the district returning officer of Lahore (sessions judge) to provide complete record of NA-118 to National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) for inspection.

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah dismissed the petition on ground of maintainability, saying the matter lied in the jurisdiction of the election tribunal and the court had no jurisdiction to issue any direction to the tribunal in thee light of a judgment passed by a full bench at the LHC, Multan bench.

Petitioner’s counsel said the district returning officer did not send complete record of the constituency to Nadra for an inspection ordered by an election tribunal. He said the inspection by a commission could not be a valid one since the record presented before it was not complete.

He asked the court to order the district returning officer to also send the remaining record of the constituency to the Nadra in order to make the inspection flawless.
