KARACHI: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has registered around 3,000 aliens in just 40 working days since merger with it of the National Aliens Registration Authority, said a senior official on Thursday.

“The aliens’ registration will help the government improve law and order conditions by providing exact number of aliens living in the country, especially in Karachi,” said director general of Nadra, Sindh, retired Brig Zahid Hussain.

“Around 2.8 million aliens are living in Karachi alone. The authority will register them in record time as around 70 aliens visit Nadra centers for registration on a daily basis. Nadra has allocated resources to complete the task in minimum possible time,” he said.

He said the mobile registration vehicles were also working at Karachi fisheries for biometric registration of non-Pakistani crews and the authority was coordinating with main madressahs of the city to register foreign students.
